Max Tack-Fang, Fencing Master

 

Maximo Tack-Fang, our fencing master, was for many years, the head of the Cuban National Team when Cuba dominated World Cup Fencing.  A few of  Maximo’s accomplishments while coaching the Cuban National Team:

•    Centro-American Fencing Championship (Guatemala) 1st place (singles and team).
•    Pan American Games (Indianapolis, Indiana) 2nd place (singles and team).
•    Centro-American Fencing Championship (Salinas, Puerto Rico) 1st place (singles and team).
•    Centro-American Games (Mexico), 1st place.
•    Pan-American Games (1991-Havana, Cuba) 2nd place – team, 1st place-individual.
•    Sabadell – Spain (1991) 2nd place (singles and team).
•    World Cup (New York – 1992) 4th place (team).
•    Univ. of Buffalo (1993), 7th place.
•    Pan American Games (Buenos Aires, Argentina) 2nd place (singles and team).
•    Centro-American Games (Ponce, Puerto Rico – 1993) 1st place
•    1995 Pre-Olympic games  2nd place.
•    1996 Centro-American Championships (Havana, Cuba) top three places.

Maximo was also the coach of the Mexican National Team and the Mexican Olympic Fencing Team.

Since 2001, Max has been working with the Miami Fencing Club as head coach and Fencing Master.

Raul Perojo Coach

 

We are pleased to welcome Raul Perojo to our team.  Raul has many years as a high level competitior in foil fencing.

-2001 World Cup Villa Habana: Gold Medal Individual, bronze medal team.

 

 

Some of Raul’s accomplishments include:

  • -Center American junior championship Habana, Cuba 2006: 1 silver medal, 1 bronze medal
  • -Iberoamerican fencing championship Cancun, Mexico 2006: 1 gold medal, 1 bronze medal.
  • -Center American fencing championship, Mexico 2006: 1 silver medal, 1 bronze medal individual & 1 gold in team event.
  • -World cup Villa de la Habana 2006: 8th place team events.
  • -Center American sports games, Colombia 2006: 5th place individual & 4th in team events.
  • -Center American fencing championship cadet & juniors, Dominican Republic 2007: 1 bronze medal, 1 gold medal team event.
  • -1st center American scholar games, Puerto Rico 2007: 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 2 bronze medals.
  • -Junior Pan American Games, Venezuela 2008: 1 silver medal.
  • -Pre Olympic fencing championship Mexico City 2007: 1 bronze medal individual.
  • -Elite Pan American Championship, Mexico City 2008: bronze medal in team event.
  • -Junior & Cadet Pan American Championship Venezuela 2009: 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals, 2 bronze medals.
  • -Youth & Cadet Pan American Championship Puerto Vallarta 2010: 5 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 2 bronze medals.

Raul was recently the coach of the Mexican National Team in Baja California Sur, Mexico.

 

 

Frank Perez, our team coach and foil expert was a National level foil competitor in Cuba for many years.  Frank works with our younger athletes teaching the fencing skills they will need to excel.

Everyone is invited to participate in fencing demonstrations and to stay and enjoy a great meal in this unique downtown restaurant.    Soya e Pomodoro is located at 120 NE 1 Street.   On street parking is available but you must pay the meters.
